Special night at the Cards game

Postby momoffduty » Sat Jun 09, 2012 9:41 am

My daughter, a nurse, arranged an outing for a patient with the help of the hospital's foundation office. The Cards gave them comp tickets. The day before the game the Card's office called my daughter and said the young girl will meet Freese & throw out the first pitch!! The Card's invited them into the stadium early and reserved a spot for food, etc. 23 went, but only 5 could go on the field...a few docs, therapist, and a nurse. My daughter's name was drawn for the nurses, but she gave her spot to a 30 year nurse.
An exciting time at the game for the young lady patient!

Here is the interview from the local News. My daughter is at :44 to the left of the patient.

I am making a slideshow of all of their photos. :)

That is awesome Cheryl !!
You just gotta love nurses and ballplayers :)

Not sure why but it was really hard to play the video, not streaming very well.
Might be my connection, anyone else having trouble viewing the video?

It worked much better once I let it load completely before starting to play :)

The Cards went above and beyond. Great club. The TV station followed them around for awhile. That video not shown. Hopefully the station will give her the video.

The team is very good at visiting patients as well as the Rams and the Blues. Nelly even visits since he is local and a few other artists that I am not familiar with.

A couple years ago a patient wanted to go the car races. A nurse had a friend who works the pit crew and when the drivers found out they arranged a whole night at the track. The patient also rode in a car for a lap before the race. Lots of red tape from the track's legal dept. A doc volunteered to monitor the patient that night. After that event the drivers started visiting the kids at the hospital.

The nurses see the patients out of the hospital too on their own time with a trip to the movies or a birthday party. And they organize benefits too. Very heartwarming.

Wow! The Kansas City Cardinals. Now that's just too cool!

Just kidding. ;)

This is such a great tale, and it says a lot about your daughter, too. You must be proud. Looking foward to the slideshow. =D>

Great bunch of people. Had no trouble streaming here with slow DSL modem on Firefox. The ads were jerky however.

I was really touched by the story, but it made me think, "Damn it! That's the way we should ALL act and love and care for each other!"

A heartwarming story, Cheryl.

momoffduty wrote:Hopefully the station will give her the video.

Some while ago I was asked by someone if I would copy a five minute or so TV programme segment (it was about the local community) from a VHS tape that they had recorded, and place it on DVD. I e-mailed the TV company and asked if they might have the segment on DVD (better quality etc.).

By return e-mail they said that they would send me the DVD if I would let them have my address. It arrived two days later - a straight 'cut-out' edit from the broadcast programme.

Moral: if you don't ask you'll never know.

I think you know how I feel about the Cards, and their fans (except for you mom), but this is very touching.

John, thanks I'll suggest they contact the local news for a DVD.

ed, yes I remembered that you have an aversion to the Cards and good to know that you do make exceptions.

Another surprise at the game is that Holliday's wife came up the the seats to visit and gave the young lady a shirt. :)
