The golden age of music Sidd! I would to have a 45 of either of these, not sure if they were released in that format though.

Re: One Hit Wonders!
I spent most of my radio career at a country station in Western Minnesota. I used to interview local artist who would appear at the local bars and hotels. I will post something from my favorite one of them. He is a singer/songwriter/comedian from Eau Claire Wisconsin. Need to find my favorite cut from one of his early albums. He is very popular in some areas of the midwest, Western and northern Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota especially. Not as active as he used to be though. When I was in radio country music was really beginning to change but the old sound was still holding on pretty hard and wouldn't let go. I remember playing Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys 4 times an hour for about 4 months straight. I still hate that song.... 1. Re: One Hit Wonders! Here is one of my favorite songs from my friend Larry Heagle. Larry used to play regularly at the Best Western in Morris Minnesota where I worked nights as a DJ in the college disco. They had a 4 star restaurant and two bars. I was also an announcer and producer at the local radio stations KMRS AM and KKOK FM. Whenever Larry was in town I would have him on the radio and play some songs from his latest album. He never made it to the really "Big Time" but he did pretty well in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. He also was the TV spokesperson for the Leinenkugel's Beer Company for awhile in the 80's and early 90's. A line from one of his songs refers to getting his eyes tatooed in Tijuana, I have never forgotten that as it is a perfect description of seeing something we can never un-see...
You can find more of Larry's stuff on YouTube The song below is my favorite of his, Between St Peter and St Paul. Also added a photo of Larry playing at the Best Western in 1982. I digitized his first album for him and helped to design the new cover, I think it came out pretty well. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. 1. Re: One Hit Wonders!I was being sarcastic Chuck
He's got a good voice for country music. My dad used to love listening to old country music from the 50's and 60's.
Re: One Hit Wonders! Some of the best one-hit-wonders were the ones you didn't realize were one-hit-wonders.
For instance, you may have thought this gorgeous song was Heart. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: One Hit Wonders!I love that song Steve, haven't heard it in awhile thanks
That song and this one always remind me of each other for some reason. This is kind of a one hit wonder too, love this song. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: One Hit Wonders!Got my copy of the book you mentioned yesterday Steve. Love it so far, well written and a lot of interesting facts thrown in. I've read through #87, but find myself putting it down to Google some factoid mentioned, and going down rabbit holes. Thanks for the suggestion!
Re: One Hit Wonders!Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, Ed!

Re: One Hit Wonders! Here is some 45rpm trivia:
The scientific reason for the larger hole. When a new 45 dropped from the spindle onto the turntable, it was required to spin up from a dead stop to 45 RPM very quickly. This torque tended to cause the small holes to go out-of-round very quickly, causing records to wobble as it spun. Now you know..... Sidd "Life moves pretty fast. Re: One Hit Wonders!I did not know that, Sidd!
But now you've got me thinking about those little plastic doohickies you had to put in the middle hole of a 45 so that it would play on a traditional spindle... HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: One Hit Wonders! The RCA Corporation introduced a snap-in plastic insert known as a spider to make 45 rpm records compatible with the smaller spindle size of a 33⅓ rpm LP record player. The adapter included small bumps called "drive pins," which locked the adapters together while revolving, thus preventing the stacked records from slipping against each other. .....and that's the rest of the story.... lol Sidd "Life moves pretty fast. Re: One Hit Wonders!Sidd, you are always a font of interesting knowledge.
BTW, if you're old enough you remember 45s and 33-1/3 rpm records. Maybe you remember 78s. But does anybody remember record players you could set to 16!? I've never seen a 16 rpm record -- but apparently they voice-only recordings, usually of long-form subjects like the Bible. And now you've got me remembering how radio stations used to get syndicated shows like Paul Harvey on 33-1/3 rpm vinyl with instructions on what track to play on what day. Stop it! I'm way too vulnerable to this kind nostalgia this time of year! HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
