Re: Slide show templateIf you're talking about the Slideshow Creator in the Organizer, you can use almost any photo format (JPG, TIF, PNG) and it will work as source footage. But I don't know that you can use a video format in the Slideshow Creator.

Re: Lines or "streaks" on filesBefore you invest too much into your Elgato, I'd try a short test run. Make sure you can edit your digitized video in Premiere Elements and that you like the results.
In the past, Elgato digitizers (or the software that comes with them) have not married well with Premiere Elements.
Re: Lines or "streaks" on filesMy thoughts exactly. They're most likely the results of going from interlaced VHS to DVD using a DVD recorder rather than a file converter.

And it's the reason you're getting these weird timelines. Convert your video to stereo using Handbrake and you should be all set. And, if you plan to continue to edit with P...

To find out, open your video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and copy the report and paste it to this forum. Once we have this report we'll better be able to figure out what's up.
