He played on many of the hit songs in the 60's with lots of bands because he knew how to use a capo ! There are a lot of good interviews on YouTube where he tells the whole story, remarkable.

Their music did not sound the same before he joined the group or after he left. As guitaritst go I would put him right up there with Terry Kath from Chicago.
