End Action Strangeness

So I go through a bunch of problems making a DVD of my niece's wedding (interlace problem, printer cartridge problems, etc.) and after all cut the final DVDs and took them up to Thanksgiving in Reading, PA. And yet another problem surfaced. The DVD has four clips, with a simple menu at the beginning...

Re: Interlace Problem

Well, I don't know why I used that preset. I am seeing a big Duh here. I think I was on cruise control, and just used whatever setting was active for the new projects, cause I have had the cam for quite a while and always use the same project preset whether I do a DVD or HD file. Can't do too much r...

Re: Interlace Problem

I was a bit concerned when I saw that all the cartridges were blank white and he took out a Sharpie and wrote Cyan, Magenta, etc. on them...

Re: Interlace Problem

Just to wrap things up (except for the actual interlace problem) I was able to finish the project. Whew! After getting around the problem and re-educating myself on DVDAS, I cut the DVDs. But I went to print the label on the DVD with my R220 and it indicated that all cartridges were illegal! This wa...

Re: Interlace Problem

Just to confirm, you're seeing these interlacing issues on a TV, when you play the disc on a DVD player, right? You're not judging the interlacing while viewing the disc on your computer, right? Sorry Steve, I missed your post. Yes, I was seeing it on the TV, not on the PC. That is what made it so ...

Re: Interlace Problem

Edit: Corrected info on AVI OK, problem solved! It was definitely a field order problem. The MPEG preset allows you to change Field Order, but in the AVI is grayed out. Not sure why. Changing the order made all the difference, as you might expect. I am not sure why taking all the defaults yielded th...

Re: Interlace Problem

Thanks John, I will check that out. But the original problem and question remains: why is PRE10 generating the interlace problem? I am experimenting this morning with different file types and presets to see if I can a) find one that works for this project and b) try to determine what the failing set...

Re: Interlace Problem

OK, some joy! I took the .m2t and fed it to two different converter programs. The results from both were excellent, no interlace problems at all. So now at least I have a way of finishing the project. But why is PRE10 failing so? Is it a settings or preset issue? But both converters I downloaded wer...

Re: Interlace Problem

No joy yet. The MPEG still had the (perhaps) interlace problem. I then tried outputting to a HD .m2t file and of course it was perfect.

Next step: try an external convert program to convert the .m2t to .avi and see what happens.

Re: Interlace Problem

Thanks guys, I will try MPEG. As I recall my main reason was to get away from I-frame issues when setting markers in DVDAS.

Interlace Problem

Hi guys. Got a problem, need help please. I want to create a standard DVD from my hi-def HV-30 video. I know I have done this before, so something new or changed has occurred. Unfortunately I haven't been active for about a year and my chops aren't what they used to be! Workflow: 1) capture from HV-...

Re: WMP Crash

The second Microsoft link looked most likely and in fact did fix the problem. It indicated problems with one of the ATI Control Panel CODECs, and also with FFDSHOW. I guess I downloaded FFDSHOW a long time ago, but never have used it, at least not recently.

So, all is well so far. Thanks Bob!!!!!

WMP Crash

Not sure when the problem started happening, but Windows Media Player completely hangs my PC at the END of playing a video file. Total hang, no mouse, no CAD, no nothing. Requires hard reboot. It happens for files from different sources, my HV-30, my cell phone, and an iPhone. I am reluctant to test...
