Re: s-video or composite input to Canopus?

Thanks for the info.

One more question: How do I tell a "good" s-video cable from a "not so good"? By the brand name?

Re: Hard drive getting full

Chuck-

Does that mean that if you wait to render until ready to burn a dvd (or not render at all) you are using less hard disk space?

s-video or composite input to Canopus?

I recently purchased a Canopus ADVC110 to capture video from an old analog camcorder and VHS tapes. Should I use an s-video cable or a composite (yellow, white, red) cable for the best results?

I've never used an s-video cable - does it transfer audio, too, or just the video signal? :?:

Re: Most Sensible Final Format for Project

videolady, If it is not being emailed, I would think just output your project as a DVD movie. All of my projects are done this way and I can view them on a TV or on my computer with Windows Media Player, which most people have on their computer. If it is being emailed, I am not sure which which is b...

Re: I should have seen this first...

Steve, My wife and I own a small, independent retail hardware (like nuts and bolts, not hard drives) and appliance store in a rural NY town (popp. 2500) about an hour south of Montreal. I work 55-75 hours a week, so I don't have as much time to "play" with video as much as I'd like. My mai...

I should have seen this first...

I'm sorry I didn't post here before asking for help twice in the PE3 forum. I just stumbled upon a reference to this section while browsing other posts. This is the first forum I joined and was attracted to it because of the quick and helpful responses that I have read, especially from Chuck and Ste...

why render?

I've never rendered any clips in any projects while working in the timeline and they have previewed and burned ok.
What is the reason for rendering? Should I be doing it?

Re: menu text not saving properly

Chuck, I reinstalled the templates as per your instructions and things are working much better. I was able to fix the menus of almost all of my projects and the changes were saved properly. There was one version of a project which for some reason would not save the menu changes and opened differentl...

I will try that this week when I have a few minutes at that computer and let you know how it worked out. Thanks for the quick replies.

Re: menu text not saving properly

My apologies- I didn't realize the same people were monitoring both forums. I will stick with this forum. I do appreciate you both spending your time trying to help me solve my problem. My problem has occured with every DVD menu I have used, every time (about 10 different menus). Should I reinstall ...

Re: menu text not saving properly

I use the DVD menu templates provided with PE3.

I usually use Microsoft Sans Serif, but the problem still occurs if I use the default fonts for the menu. I have the fonts properly installed, and they work with all of my word processing, Photoshop, and other video and graphics programs.

menu text not saving properly

After creating a menu for a PE3 project and saving and closing the project, when reopening the project the main and submenus font and thumbnail sizes, styles, or placement is not as was saved. It appears to be randomly different each time. Sometimes a button might even be missing. Eveything else abo...
