That's the way it works.
You can't just close the project and open a new project.

What you can do is to save the project as a new project with a new name and then work from there.

If the video is just a motion background, the trick to seamless looping is to take the video and reverse it each time you repeat it on the timeline.

What is your intended use of the file from the DVD?

I'm taking a break from shoveling and plowing snow. I've been at it since 7:30 this morning. It is supposed to end about 5:30 today. I'm glad it's well below freezing. It makes the snow much easier to shovel and plow. We had some localized flooding when it was warmer due to ice jambs in a river. Man...
