I think it's no secret I prefer the Diamond VC500, in my experience the best -- and the software produces easily editable MP4s.

And this is a Premiere Elements that has successfully edited HEVC video in the past! So apparently Apple is again creating new formats faster than many programs can support them. Re: Filename shown on displaySidd makes a good point. I may have misunderstood the issue.
Programs like VLC Media Player briefly display the name of the file when it plays. This can of course be turned off in the preferences. But it's a feature of the media player. The filename is not on the actualy MP4.
