Re: TV Commercial Production?

I second what Ken says. With DV source files, you'll get exactly the same quality out of Premiere Elements that you'll get out of Avid, Premiere CS3 or Apple Final Cut Pro.

In other words, if you don't tell, no one will know...

Re: Reasons I have to return to version 2

If you right-click on a title in the Media/Project file (not on the timeline) and choose Copy then Paste, it creates a duplicate which you can edit as needed.

Re: PE4 doesn't come up

Uninstalling (selecting the option to remove preferences) and reinstalling usually fixes this. But it's also a good idea to make sure your firmware and Quicktime are updated. It does make a difference. http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c057647 If those both don't fix it (and they should) go to My Do...

Re: Give Away Of The Day - up size photos

I think what Robert was referring to is that the program essentially just adds pixels using a bicubic smoother, which is an available resampling method in Image Size in Photoshop Elements. But, hey, if the software makes the process easier, adds some additional features -- and is free -- no harm usi...

Re: Arrrgh! Here we go again!

We seem to have this same discussion every couple of weeks, Bob. MiniDV is far from dead. And, even some years from now, when they stop making miniDV camcorders, you will still be able to buy tapes. So, if you're looking for something smaller and more technologically advanced than that D8, a $250-40...

Re: zip/unzip utility for vista

Unless right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer gives you the option Extract, somebody has tinkered with it. Mind if I ask what brand of computer it is? Sony VAIOs, for instance, are notorious for customizing the operating system (often leading to problems). Dells and HPs, on the other hand, u...

The beginning of the end for AMD?

As if Apple jumping aboard the Intel bandwagon wasn't enough of a boost -- now HP and Dell are scaling back on their AMD offerings. So it looks like Intel might soon be the sole player in the personal computer processor chip market. http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSN0850162420080208...

Re: zip/unzip utility for vista

Well, of course CS3, Photoshop Element and Photo Gallery won't open it! It's not one of their files!

But Windows Vista has an onboard compressor/uncompressor program built in.

What program does it offer to launch by default, Sara?

Re: Reasons I have to return to version 2

One other thing could explain the crashes many people with powerful machines are experiencing: overheating. This piece of freeware will tell you how hot your system is running http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php And, if we're seeing systems running way hotter than they should be, that would certainly...

Re: How To Test RAM

This must be the one Richard mentioned.

It, too, involves installing to a CD and booting up from the CD.
