I've been looking for something to do particles for a while and been meaning to get to grips with blender. I've made a start and here's what I've got so far. I can post .blend files if people are interested. First up some particles generated in Blender (Title done in Vegas). [wmvvideo1]http://muvipix.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10215/particles.wmv[/wmvvideo1] Second an experiment with the cloth simulation. I'm looking do see if I can do a sort pull/blow the cloth off of something reveal later. [wmvvideo1]http://muvipix.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10215/cloth.wmv[/wmvvideo1] Third a dissolve (technique here : http://blenderdiplom.com/index.php/tutorials/item/78-tutorial-dissolve-your-logo-in-blender-262). I think this is a really cool effect. [wmvvideo1]http://muvipix.com/cpg/albums/userpics/10215/dissolve.wmv[/wmvvideo1] Lastly (for now) some "sparks". I was sort of looking for a kind of a welding effect - but never got there - however I'm quite please with the result for now. These are great Chris, especially the dissolve! The program interface looks a little daunting. I wouldn't have need for most of the program's capabilities, but the possibilities for titles has my attention. Are there a lot of tutorials available that will walk one through creations like this? The learning curve/time may be too much for me to invest in actually learning it from the bottom up. I know it sounds like I want to take the easy way out, but there are only so many hours in the day.
Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Those are really cool effects. I think I'm doing good when I make a cube rotate.
There are some courses on Lynda.

I know what you mean - The interface is daunting - I suppose it's because if Blender's history and flexibility. There are lots of tutorials for this - The dissolve is following the link I gave above and it's pretty "do this - now do that" so quite easy to follow but I'd have never been able to do it on my own! However a lot of them are for older versions and some of the features (especially around particles) have changed (sometimes significantly) so YYMV. Perhaps there's some room for "Blender for titles and particles for video users" - New book Steve?
