Well, not really. We'll always be here, but we are going to move to a stronger/faster server in the coming days. Just letting everyone know in case there's any downtime. The post-move should prove to be an overall better experience when surfing or downloading from our site as we will no longer be sharing the resources with other websites - this usually causes the slowdowns and latencies that we've had, especially over the past week or so.
We've also temporarily disabled uploads to the Gallery and attachments to the forum. This will ensure a perfect snapshot when we move the final files over.
Though we can't guarantee a specific time frame for the move to be complete, we're trying hard to have it done in the next few days. We'll keep you updated as required.
Thanks for your patience and thanks again for your support!
Regards, -Ron

OK, I'm going to take the site down in 1 hour (Feb. 7 - 11:00 AM Eastern Time). The new server should propagate (guessing) sometime this afternoon. All your bookmarks can remain the same. Cross your fingers...

Ron, the new IP address might not propagate that quickly. Could you post the actual IP address - that might allow us to connect before the DNS propagation gets through. Also maybe a bit of an explanation of IP and DNS might help people understand what is going on and why.
Thanks...

You may be right about the propagation, but it's the same host and name servers so I assumed that it wouldn't take as long to populate the databases. We'll see, though. I can't give the IP address for many reasons, one being our subscription service. Don't want anyone to buy any of our products based on an IP address... I think you get the drift. Also, some of the software that we use here rely on absolute paths. Don't want anyone to be frustrated when a link brings them back to the maintenance page, it just isn't worth it. And I don't need to get into sessions/cookies... I don't expect this to be a totally smooth process, but that's where I'll rely on all of you to help me out. We'll try to make this as painless as possible. Don't have time really to get into the DNS thing - I'm in a zone Besides, I truly don't understand all of it myself. I mean, I know enough to be dangerous, that's about it.

I see the move was successful. Time for a cold beer and some pizza? Love the new house.

No problems at all - big improvement in response times. If I was more local, Ron, I'd buy the beer. Good job, well done. On behalf of all Muvipix users, THANK YOU (that's a big thank you, not a shout).
