Re: Finding hidden temp filesAfter googling Windows Log CBS, it seems this is an issue. The folder is 16.9 GB and half created after March 2017. How do I handle these logs? Delete?

Re: Finding hidden temp filesIt's not something I've come across before. As always - ensure you have a backup before making changes. This link here seems to give a procedure for fixing it.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesI have a tech coming over tomorrow to look at the situation. Hopefully he can get me through Aug. I have a project I promised someone and a bunch of photos to edit for a family member. I am now down to 15G of free space. After I deliver my projects, I am going to get a larger SSD. This one is past the 3 year warranty.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesMom I hope your tech resolves the issues for you. I would be interested in what their conclusion was regarding the drive. Also the price of SSD drives keeps going down so happy hunting.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesCheryl could you check if your folders for Documents, Pictures, Video, Music etc. are on your C: drive. Windows creates those folders by default on C: , but it is possible to move them to a different drive. It's a pain in the neck to do, but necessary if you have a SSD.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesSidd, thanks. I will start a new thread when I am ready for a new SSD.
Gerlinde, good thought. My Documents is routed to my media drive. I did double check a few folders, music a few Mb, videos empty, downloads empty that are on my C drive. I keep my Downloads folder on my D drive tidy saving things to the appropriate folders. aka Cheryl

Re: Finding hidden temp filesThat's one way to do it. You can also right click the folder to get to Properties, if you see a Location Tab on the top you get the option to move the folder to a location of your choice. Windows 10 is better in that regard, it gives you a choice where you want you folder to be during setup.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesHappy to report that I have now 138 GB free space. The cbs persist files generated was due to a failed Windows update sometime ago. Besides generating those large files there were other files generated in one of the temp folders. Turned off hibernation too. Had a few sketchy files that were deleted. System cleaned. I will keep an eye out on the free space and if the cbs persist files start generating.

Re: Finding hidden temp filesCongrats Cheryl! 138 GB, that must feel great!
Also, I'm looking forward to your new SSD thread
Re: Finding hidden temp files
Thanks karri, the 138 GB free is freeing. Things are running a lot smoother especially in Photoshop. I think I will hold off on the new SSD. It is past the 3 year warranty so may push it another year. aka Cheryl
