Unexpected Black Background

Unexpected Black BackgroundNearly a year ago I started on a documentary spanning many years. At the time I developed a way to briefly show the year during which the clip was taken. I made up several animated dates which I had to save as .mov (if I remember correctly, .avi would not work). Now I don't like the animation and wanted to make a new set but it no longer works if saved in .avi or .mov. I made the date in Photoshop; the background I have chosen for the date is completely transparent. When transferred to PRE12 as a .psd file on an upper track and the action on a lower track both the action and the superimposed date are clearly visible. However, when I add some animation to the .psd file while alone in PRE12 and then try to export it as a .avi or a .mov file the transparent areas have turned black and obscure the action on the track below. What have I forgotten or am now getting wrong? As you know, I can not attach an example of the .mov file but have attached a copy of the .psd file and of the .avi file I made from it in PRE12. For your information I am sure I created the earlier animated dates in Proshow Producer v7 and exported them from there. A solution to my problem would be most welcome.

Re: Unexpected Black BackgroundI don't know how I could have forgotten! Maybe its age related (I am 88) although I hope not. As before, I checked out your expert advice and it worked like a charm. Very many thanks to both of you again - and yes, I have noted it all down this time.
