FCPX on a Macbook Air?Does anyone have experience editing with Final Cut Pro (X?) on a MacBook Air (i5 CPU)? I read some reviews that say it is possible but I'm not sure how well it would work.
Desktop: HPE-580T, i7-950 (3.07GHz), 16GB RAM, Win'7 64-bit Home Premium, PSE12/PRE12, Lightroom 5.
Laptop: MacBook Pro (retina), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5. Cameras (in use): Panasonic GH4/Canon HFR400/Canon HV30, GoPro HD Hero2.
Re: FCPX on a Macbook Air?Airs are built for portability, not power -- so that could well be the case. On the other hand, Final Cut Pro X makes amazing use of resources -- so I too would love to hear of anyone's real world experience.
Meantime, what are your hardware specs, and what model of camcorder is your video coming from? Obviously your experience is going to be different if you're editing AVCHD as opposed to some pro format. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: FCPX on a Macbook Air?Thanks Steve. No pro stuff, just hobby. Cams include Rebel T4i and HDV Canon consumer cams (HV30, HFR400). Reviews I saw on web today indicate MBA editing with FCPX is definitely possible.
