Wow... amazing. I guess they had to get the camera angle just right for it to work???

I agree, It even looks like they used a really high def camera and printer because it was hard to tell the sides of the picture.

I'm sure Steve has the answer to that one. But it sure looks like he is moving a print around on the table. But the transition from the object to the print so so smooth that you can't see it. Guess I have to download the vid and look at it in really slow motion or on a time line to see where he switched from object to print.

He is moving a print around on the table. This is a well known optical illusion. When the lighting and perspective are just right, the brain will interpret it as a three dimensional object. Change the orientation and the illusion falls apart. This is often exploited by street artists.

Yes, but I am still interested in how he did such a smooth video transition between the stationary object and the print on the table.

Bob's saying that there is no 3D stationary object. It's all the flat print; an illusion.

Very clever, all!

(There is a hill in Birmingham, Alabama, that works like the 2nd sculptural video, for real. When driving your car up it, you go faster and faster, even when applying the brakes! Lots of iron ore in Birmingham.)

Artists have been taking advantage of optical illusions for a long time. See Holbein example here:
