Power Supply Failure

Postby Chuck Engels » Tue Oct 09, 2012 3:25 pm

The power supply on my 4-5 year old Dell Precision 490 failed about 2 months ago.
I found a reasonably priced refurbished unit from http://blueskyave.com

The new one has also now failed and blueskyave has a 90 day warranty so I emailed for a RMA # and they issued me one.
I have returned the failed unit to them and am now waiting for my replacement.

This seems to be a very reliable company for Dell parts. Will let you all know how the replacement goes :TU:
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

Kind of makes you wonder why the replacement failed, huh? But sometimes stuff just happens. Always good to know of good suppliers.

Chuck, if this transaction causes "The Rant part Deux" I am good with it happening in this thread. :)

Contacted BlueSkyAve today about the replacement as the USPS tracking said that the bad power supply delivered to them yesterday. Got an email back within an couple hours saying that the new one was shipping today and provided a FedEx tracking number, excellent service :TU:

I am convinced that the BlueSkyAve rep must read the Muvipix Forum and realized they would not be associated with....the rant. :)

Well Done
