New video cardOkay I am going to update my video card for one approved by adobe PS http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/tes ... p-cs5.html Does anyone have a preferred suggestion for one. I assume there would be no problem with my current motherboard.
Re: New video cardThis is very comparable to mine and I really like it a lot.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-NA-_-NA 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.
2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.
Re: New video cardThanks Chuck. Going on vacation for a week and will persue when I get back.
Re: New video cardChuck, I am back from vacation and other things. The card you suggested is out of stock and may not be restocked. Any other suggestins from you or anyone.
Re: New video cardTop of the line:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814103201 Or maybe something a little cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150549 Or even a little cheaper than that: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125353 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: New video cardThanks Chuck, the cheaper one will probably meet my needs, I am not a gamer. Just as long as it meets adobe specs, but I will look at the second one also. Depends on how the MB/CPU I select integrates with it.
Re: New video cardThe tested video card list you linked to is for Photoshop CS5, not Premiere Pro CS5. Premiere Pro has different requirements. If you want to use the Mercury Playback engine for GPU accelleration, you need a CUDA based card from NVIDIA. If you use a Radeon card, you will only be able to use software rendering. Here's a link to the specs: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-premiere-pro.html. Get one with at least 1GB video ram.
Re: New video cardThanks Bob, wasn't thinking about the Cuda engine and video rendering. I am happy with my setup for now even without that

Re: New video cardThis looks loke a reasonably priced one that is on the list http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814125338 how about it Chuck and Bob? I didn't look at the PS list, but assume if its good for Pro it good for PS.
Re: New video cardI have a GTX470 with PPro CS5.5 and it works 10 times faster with CUDA accelerated effects than without CUDA.
Re: New video cardLooks like a great choice Clayton and Peru give it a great review.
I might have to look into that one myself, but then I would need to upgrade to CS5.5 or CS6 too. 1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

Re: New video cardI have a GTX 470 also. I think Paul does too. And, yes, it works great with Photoshop.
Re: New video cardThanks guys, I shall order promptly.
Re: New video cardWell bummer, it is out of stock. I looked at some similar products with similar specs, but they are not on the adobe list. Is the adobe list mean these have been tested, but not necessarily the only ones that wiill work? The one I was looking at was about $220, the next ones up (gtx 570 series) run around $300. There are some 480 series that are similarly priced but not on adobes list.
Re: New video cardWell I ordered this to close out this thread. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130621
