Thanks for the reply. Did you encounter any glitches as a result of the upgrade to IE9? Re: Question re IE9Well, in a sense. It seems like they move things around and change the look just so you know they did something. They moved the View Favorites button to the right side, and it's non-negotiable. I liked it better on the left side. There are some other changes in the look, but some of them are customizable. Other than that it seems to run okay, no real complaints. If you decide you just don't like IE9 you can uninstall it through "Uninstall a program" in control panel. It will revert to IE8.

Re: Question re IE9I've been using IE9 for a while now. Now that I've gotton used to the changes, I feel it is a much better browser than IE8.
Some of the changes are cosmetic, but there are some useful new features as well. It does seem to be more stable and the error recovery does appear to work. I've only encountered one web site that has lost function because they don't support IE9. That's Ancestry dot com. Accessing my account there, I cannot retrieve messages sent to me through their system. Their support team confirmed that is because they haven't added support for IE9 and don't know when they will. I don't show the favorites bar, I prefer to show the menu bar instead. The menu bar has a favorites menu item that brings up the favorites in the old style cascading menu style. There is also a "star" on the upper right hand side that brings up a favorites/history/feeds panel. The panel can be pinned so that it is always visible, but that uses up some of the screen real estate.
Re: Question re IE9
Is there still the dropdown menu next to the Favorites Star that allows one to export for backup one's updated list of Favorites? Re: Question re IE9
Since my last post I've repeatedly read that, for optimal security with Win7, I need to update to IE9. So, after taking a "snapshot" of my system, I downloaded and installed it. As others have stated, I was able to customize it so that it looks quite similar to IE8 and so that all of IE8's features are still intact. At this point, I've been using it for a number of hours without issue. My to those who replied to my original post.
