Specs for Scanner

Postby Little Nac » Mon Jun 06, 2011 11:43 pm

Hi Guys.
Was just wondering how these specs are for the scanner part of a HP All-in-One.
Have checked it up on the internet and seems to be OK.
Just happened to see it today in a shop on special.
Thank you in advance.

If you are faced with a forced landing at night, switch on the landing lights, if you don't like what you see, switch them back off.

It's likely just fine for everyday use.

You're not planning on scanning professional images for a high-quality print magazine or anything like that, are you, Nac? If you're just scanning stuff for the internet or for videos, this is certainly just fine.

But since this is an all-in-one, don't forget to also consider important issues like how well it prints color and how many pages per minute it prints at full quality. Again, for home use you probably don't need a lot of horse power or speed. But see if you can do a test print of your own scan to see what the quality of the output is. (Don't just do a test print of the printer's test page. They're never a fair representation of the print quality.)

As Steve said, If this is for internet/web, video and slideshows you will be fine (not High Definition video or slideshows, for that you need a resolution of at least 1920 x 1080). Personally I think you would be better off with a scanner that will at least do 2000 x 2000 but that one will do in a pinch as long as you aren't going to use it for printing the scanned images.

Hi Steve, Chuck
Thanks for the input, no printing is not a concern as I have other good printers. Yes basically it would be for use in Video/Slideshows,
At this stage it would be used for scanning lots of old pics etc. but your comment on HD has me thinking. Unfortunately we had two great scanners
that did the lot, negs included, but now gone thanks to Win7. We have one that does the 35mm, so just happened to come across this, and got to wondering.
Thanks again
LN
