trouble rendering and exporting in elements

Postby snorgate » Sun Jul 31, 2022 2:58 pm

hi there. I am having trouble rendering and exporting in premier elements. The system freezes up and I have to force it closed. I think the culprit is a movie clip that originated on my iphone, although I converted it from MOV to MP4 to hopefully avoid that issue. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing premier elements 2022. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Converting the iPhone footage certainly could fix things, but shouldn't be necessary with version 2022. Certainly not if you're on Windows 10/11 and you have the HEVC codec installed.

Can you post a screen shot of the timeline showing your entire movie? Things like a gap in the timeline and having a stop marker at the end of your movie can keep the program from exporting properly.

Also, does the process crash at exactly the same place every time?

Hi Steve. Thanks so much for responding to this query. I must say I got so discouraged about Adobe that I have bought Cyberlink PowerDirector 365. I then discovered you had written a book about that program so I ordered a copy. A few years back I bought your book about Premier Elements and I want to tell you how much I have appreciated the help you provide in that book. I am mid-century modern (born in 1950) and I do much better learning and studying with a book in front of me. I am excited about the new program and can't wait for your book to arrive and dig in.
Thanks for all you do Steve.

Thanks for the kind words, snorgate! We've been at this for nearly 15 years at this point, and our goal has always been to show everyone how to have as much fun editing video as we've been having.

I hope we can help you work through your issues. Although using Cloud Convert rather than using Handbrake and our specs may be part of the issue.

Have you seen our tutorial on converting with Handbrake? It's the most reliable converter out there. And it's free!

I have this issue too from time to time. I'll finish a short project, go to export and the entire program will lock-up. I *did* find a solution that's worked so far - reboot your computer prior to any video editing. I never have a lock-up when I do this.

YMMV.

:meet:

I could be because you had some RAM in use that was not released until reboot.
