I have the urge to jump back to Vegas 17. . .
Then I'd have to rebuild all the video because it won't open v. 18 .veg files...
No, I'm not doing it yet . . .
* * *
This version (18) should run... it worked fine a couple of weeks ago for the first DVD...

"If it worked before", it's often worth trying to reset the software to default settings (if you haven't yet). Full instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/ (they apply to DVD A as well). Be sure to be able to clear the cache.

Aloha vk...
That was my question (in my head) after I posted my last message...
Isn't there a way to reset the dozens of options available to their original settings...?
Then... I uninstalled DVDA one more time and shut the computer down to make it evident I was starting fresh.
I was afraid to ask, because I knew the list would be exhaustive...
* * *
Here I am a couple of hours later... after the second reinstall with the same results...
I come here to check for the next step... and the answer to my question mysteriously appears... LOL
* * *
I'll go look them up and let you know what happened next...
* * *
Thanks for your patience...
* * *

Until that time...

Mahalo nui loa vkmast. . .
(Thank you VERY MUCH)...

Here is the final image of this grand weekend ordeal...

Now, rebuilding the DVD 4-page menu doesn't look like such a daunting task after DVDA is fixed...
Perhaps I'll just reopen the original .dar file and see what happens there...

Final comment...
* * *
I opened the old .dar on a whim... and it was back to its old trick of errors for every video...
* * *
I will go back and grab all the original saved mpg/ac3 files and see how that works...
[ It appears (to me) that something in the .dar file is causing this problem. ]
* * *
IF I bring in the rendered files and they cause trouble again, I'll re-render them (with new names)...
* * *
I am armed with the skill to start DVDA fresh whenever I need it, now.
I'll clean it often (like every time I open it LOL)... and as many times as I need to get a final DVD out if it...
* * *
Finally, the project is 21 or so files large spread out over four pages ranging from
one link on a page to 12 links (14 with the home and previous buttons) on another
(text only, I rarely use video in my menus)... Is that too many?
I have never heard of any sort of limit for the number of files... the size of the DVD is the only limiter.
Right now, my project is at 3.5 GB... Is this approach correct?

Aloha y'all. . . Steve and vkmast primarily...
You didn't really believe that my last comment was really the last and final comment did you...? LOL
* * *
Of course, I would have to come back and share the progress of the rebuild after overcoming a weekend full of
confusion, confoundment, and cursing (fortunately, the wife is in Florida with our daughter and granddaughter - ;) ). . .
* * *
The report is good... everything is as it should be and all is right in my world... :-D
Here's my final share about halfway through the rebuild...

A few minor difficulties - but not a single RED exclamation point !

I guess this case is closed...
Good night, Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are...

Really? It's fixed? Great news, Earl! Although I'd feel better if I knew exactly what we did that fixed it...
