DVDA 7.0 bit rate setting...

Postby Earl_J_MauiBoy » Sat Sep 11, 2021 12:11 am

Aloha all y'all. . .
I thought all my problems were solved a week or so ago...
Well, evidently not...
* * *
I just finished the building of the videos and rendering them into two separate piles (mpeg2 and ac3);
placed them into DVDA 7.0 for burning. Every button and link works just fine in the Preview mode in DVDA.
* * *
I go to burn the DVD and every piece of video appears with a orange exclamation point and a warning message that indicates the bit rate is too low...
It was set to 6Mbps (just like the last one I built successfully). Thenext button is grayed-out, so I can't skip those error messages.
I just burned disks with the settings as they are a week or so ago...
I tried the AUTO function in DVDA with the same result... max of 9 Mbps... 6 Mbps average... and 930,000 as the minimum... and orange exclamation points...
* * *
There isn't any explanation in the manual about these error message - just the symbols... that orange exclamation point indicates those errors will cause the DVD to not burn properly - and it will not proceed from that point. I have to fix the problem, but I don't know where the problem originates.
Is it in DVDA OR is it my prep work from Vegas Pro 18...???
* * *
I'm at my wit's end... I have no idea why such a simple project is fraught with so much adversity...
* * *
Anyone have any ideas...? Thanks in advance. . .
* * *

What video editor are you outputting your DVD-ready files from?
3.6 ghz i7-7700 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with 16 gigs RAM and a 2 terrabyte HD. Also iMac 2.6 ghz dual-core, 4 gigs of RAM, running OSX El Capitan and Boot Camp Windows 10 64-bit.

Aloha Steve...
Oh my... I just moved this message from the FLICKER discussion and forgot to add all the details.
I use Vegas Pro 18. . . loyally from Vegas 4.0...
* * *
Just started using the two-part breakdown method since DVDA began demanding it when I wasn't looking... (grin)
I used to just send the mp4 files into DVDA and let it do the breakdown... I found out that won't work anymore
last month...
* * *
I burned one successfully on 31 AUG... now I get errors when trying to burn a second disk... (sigh)
* * *
Thanks for the response...

Aloha all y'all. . .
Here are the settings giving me the problem:

Here are the errors I get:

They worked for a previous DVD... now, errors galore...

Aloha all y'all...
I just tried 2 DVDs using DVDStyler...
* * *
What a waste of time...
It does not allow text-only labels... there must be an accompanying image from the video.
It would not permit me to bring a simple text title to the front of the image - it always scoots behind the image...
IF I scoot the image to the back - it goes behind the background image... what good is that?
* * *
I looked at the accompanying manual - a single page walk-through of a single disk without any multi-page building methods.
I'm glad I'm finding it out now... it isn't worth a plug nickel... no wonder they give it away.
What a waste of time... the one redeeming factor - it takes mp4 without hesitation.
* * *
I may have to go see what CyberLink has to offer... I'll still use Vegas Pro for editing... but DVDA is quickly losing its
favored spot in my production technique.
* * *
On the hunt for a replacement... I might jump back to an earlier version of DVDA... if I still have one. (sigh)

Aloha all y'all. . .
I'm foregoing the DVDA attempt and going to Power2Go...
* * *
I'm looking for a good tutorial on it for creating and burning menu DVDs...
Now many around.
* * *
It is not intuitive as I had suspected... so the learning curve might be a bit challenging.
I just tried to edit the text in the menu and NONE of the text buttons are active... they are all grayed out.
I wonder IF I have to sign in everytime I use it... it asked me to sign in to open other options to make the ordeal smoother...
whatever that is supposed to mea...
* * *
I'm driving on... and now need to know how to create additional pages... (grin)
as well as go back and re-render all the video into mp4... my, my, my...

Wow! You do so much experimenting I can hardly keep up with you, Earl! It sounds like you're already two or three steps ahead of my advice. It looks like you're already trying other DVD creation options. For now, I'd recommend you stick with DVD Architect. At least until we can figure out what's going on.

That said, I'm not sure why your video files are being rejected by DVD Architect. That video template is exactly the one you should be using to get the video from Vegas to DVD Architect.

I see you've also favorited the program stream option, which should also work. Maybe you should share one of your MPG outputs with me. I'll load it into my DVD Architect and see if I get the same results.

You can share your file by putting it on Dropbox and then sharing it to my e-mail address, which I believe you already have.

Aloha Steve and thank you...
Yes... I have come full circle... and will try again.
* * *
I paid for the Cyberlink P2G and it only permits 3 items per page... and no text-only buttons allowed;
so, I've decided as you recommend... get my DVDA figured out.
* * *
It is THE MOST designer-rich burning tool anywhere...
It may be that I have too much stuff going on at the same time...
I have a Razer laptop that is powerful enough for most things... perhaps it was flooded with other tasks
in the background OR too much residual junk from other tasks in RAM and other places...
I think I'll give it one more try with a clean start directly to DVDA and see how that does.
* * *
Nope, didn't work...
I am trying to figure out where the bit rate is causing the problem.
Is it in the mpg coming from Vegas 18 ...
OR
is it in DVDA during the burning process?

* * *
I'll send you the shortest piece of video I can find... thanks for your help.

Aloha all y'all. . .
I purchased Power2Go on SAT... and am expecting a refund here before long... it was useless to me.
* * *
I'm thinking of taking that money and getting a copy of Movie Studio as a backup...
then discover on the site, that Movie Studio has been discontinued...
but it really hasn't disappeared... it's a name change... which is what happens (eventually)
when a company is bought out by another.
Gee whiz, Mr Wizard...
* * *
I'll go check out the pricing...

I can't vouch for the other programs you're trying to create DVDs with, Earl. But CyberLink PowerDirector Ultimate is still a terrific alternative, if you think you need one. I don't know anything about CyberLink P2G, but PowerDirector Ultimate has no such limitation.

But as I say, you've gotten a bit ahead of me. I'm trying to focus on your Vegas/DVD Architect issue.

Thank you for sharing your video files via Dropbox. I've studied them and their specs are identical to those of the video files I use with DVD Architect. So you're on the nose there. You're using the right Render As template.

I even loaded your video files into my DVD Architect 7 -- and they loaded up without a hiccup! So something may be up with your DVD Arch program.

My DVD Architect 7 is Build 100, released in 2018. Is yours also?

I suppose it's possible your program may have corrupted and it may be worth an uninstall/reinstall. But don't get so far ahead of me please! Let's take this one step at a time. Just answer my questions as I ask them and I'm sure we can figure out how to make things work again. Okay?

Oh my gosh...
I've been watching your video series on Movie Studio... (again)
Yes, I agree about finding out what's up with DVD7... and sticking with until it dies or absolutely won't work.
* * *
I apologize for the late reply...
* * *
Yes, I have DVDA 7 Build 100... ... and it is updated.
I just upgraded to Vegas 18 a month or so ago.
* * *
But if you think a delete and reinstall will work, I can do that... I'll execute when you say...
No jumping ahead... promise. You tell me what to do and when... THEN, I'll do it... gotcha...
* * *
Sorry this response is so late at night.

Uninstall and reinstall the program. See if it makes a difference.

Roger that, Steve...

[ I was itching to try it... but I didn't scratch... ]

I also tried using the other "favorite" format for video without success...

Aloha, Steve, and all y'all...
I uninstalled it and reinstalled DVDA7 ... it also reactivated, of course.
* * *
I just tried one file to see IF it would change... perhaps I had too many to work right...
Still broken, it appears.

Let me go try to Re-Render this piece of video and see what happens...
