Unable to close gap

Postby degreening » Fri Apr 02, 2021 5:29 am

Hi. It's probably something totally obvious, but I'm really missing something. When I add music ( To either Audio 1 or Music ), a gap occurs in the Video timeline, and the 'Delete and Close Gap, does nothing. I tried to dig up answers to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The timeline ripples based on what you place on Video 1 and Audio 1. If you're placing your music on Audio 1, the timeline will ripple, pushing all of the video and audio on all tracks to the right, as you're seeing. You won't be able to Delete and Close Gap because there is no gap. Your music clip is filling that gap.

Add your music to the Music audio track instead. If you are still seeing this rippling, hold down the Alt key as you add your music to the Music track. This will limit any rippling to the track you are adding the clip to.

Thanks Steve. That got it done. The Alt key was the key !! My understanding of the rippling was limited to what goes on in the video track alone, not it's relationship with other tracks. Thanks again. Be well. Dave
