Question on Muvipix Premiere Elements Basic Training Part 2

Postby Joshann » Thu Feb 18, 2021 3:12 pm

I am watching Muvipix Premiere Elements 2021 Basic Training Part 2. It says that if I import my footage and see a yellow orange line above the timeline, I may need to adjust the project settings. I am trying to import GoPro footage shot at 2.7K 60fps. What do I need to do so that I don't have the yellow orange line? Please note that I'm a newbie with this.

Depends on the specs of your video. Most times the program will automatically match its settings to your video, but sometimes it can't.

If you want to do it right, I recommend first opening your video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy that text report and paste it to this forum. Once we' know the specs of your video, we'll be able to recommend the best way to proceed.

Have you tried to render the timeline? Just press the Enter key on your keyboard. The yellow-orange line will turn green and your video will play smoothly.

If you want specific instructions, you'll need to provide the complete MediaInfo report, per my earlier instructions.

I was hoping to avoid downloading yet another piece of software just to give you information to answer a question. However, I just downloaded Mediainfo, and no matter what I do, I get this:

Again, the properties I provided you with aren't enough to help me?

Yes, I can render it, but in the Basic Training Video Part 2, it says that if a yellow-orange line appears when you first place your clip on the timeline (which is happening to me), then the project's settings do not match the video's specs. My clip is GoPro footage shot at 2.7K 60fps, and I don't see any project settings that match that.

I have never known a video to crash MediaInfo, Joshann. I don't know what to recommend there. MediaInfo is an essential utility for any video editor.

I tried it over and over again, and it crashes every time. Is there any way you can help with the information I have been able to provide? I’m thinking a 2.7K 60fps GoPro video can’t be all that uncommon. Here is the info. again:

Sorry. I can't help you without specific information. Although that resolution -- 2704X1560 -- is a big red flag. It's not standard by any means.

Did you download MediaInfo from here? https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

Those are some pretty non-traditional specs. Your video is 2704x1520 at 60 fps. It's just not going to play well with Premiere Elements.

Do you have the option to set that camera to any other specs?

If not, you may want to try loading this video into the Windows Video Editor (assuming you're on Windows 10) and see if it can edit it. Worst case, you can output this video from the Video Editor as a 1920x1080 mp4 and then edit that in Premiere Elements.

That's my feeling anyway. The GoPro is a very popular camera, so it's possible someone else in our community has figure out how to work with its footage and will offer another solution.

OK, thanks anyway. Yes, I can set the camera to record in either 4K or 1080, but my problem is that I already have a lot of footage at 2.7k. One more question... Do you know if Premiere Pro would be able to work with 2.7k?
