AI and Photoshop used to bring Romans back to life

Well, lifelike in appearance. Sort of.

If this should happen to spark anyone's curiosity in Roman history, I can highly recommend McCullough's "The Grass Crown."

That is a really amazing job they did with the photos. Makes them look very real indeed. Thanks Pazz

Many of them look more like movie stars than I would expect. A little George Clooney-ish from "Hail, Caesar!" :hyst:

I wish they'd included Julius Caesar and Sulla. By all accounts, Sulla was particularly good looking and there are sculptures of both of them.

.... just looked up "Hail Caesar!". Oooooh! A Cohen Brothers' I hadn't even heard of!

I love "Hail Ceasar!"

Just know it's not a heavily structured movie. No strong storyline. Just a day in the life of Hollywood in the 1950s. But if you recognize the Classic Hollywood references, it's a blast!

One of those movies where 45 minutes in you realize that it's really never going to go anywhere, but you've got so much time invested that you figure you may as well finish it. Kind of like a Mustang that a buddy of mine had in the early 70s :hyst:

If you enjoy ancient Rome, Mary Beard who is a Professor of Classics at the University of Cambridge and an English scholar of Ancient Roman civilization did a couple of fascinating documentaries on Ancient Rome.

1. Rome: Empire without Limit

2. Meet the Romans

They are each 4 part series that offer an interesting insight into ancient Rome.

Thanks, guys. I'll look to see if I can watch "Hail" with Amazon Prime.

Sidd, I find history to be fascinating. After all, almost all the best movie plots are based on things that really happened! I'll check out your recommendations.

Back in the day, my Latin teacher used to go on and on about the collapse of the Roman Empire. Simultaneously my mother was reading "The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich." (I have her copy now. Maybe someday I'll get around to reading it.)

Until this year I never realized how brilliant Julius Caesar was, and a good man. There's a series on ROKU called "The Roman Empire." It is brilliant! I'm a history nut any way.
