Shake Reduction help

Postby dsttexas » Wed Sep 04, 2019 4:42 pm

I have a video clip about 30 seconds long, taken with Zoom out quite a bit, and of course without a tripod(!), and then following a couple walking closer. The zoomed area is pretty shaky and I've tried a variety of different settings in Expert mode, Detailed and Advanced settings and not getting real good results. Some crops off top of heads, some seem more shaky than the original. As the modified clip goes to the unedited next one (closer up) it kind of jumps out you how bad the transition is between edited and unedited. I've studied the Adobe provided instructions, but really need something more in depth or a video to walk through various shaky clips. Trial and error takes a lot of time on some of these.

Is there any better education on this feature?

Thanks.

Sorry you are having issues,

My guess is that Steve wrote about this in one of his books.... queue Steve....

Or you might take a different approach. You might try YouTube's free video editor. You would upload to youtube that have it do its thing then download the clip.

Here's a quick way to fix and stabilize your shaky videos.
Launch the YouTube video editor.
Select the shaky video you want to stabilize.
Click the Effects button that appears on the video thumbnail.
Select either Auto-Fix or Stabilize Video option.
Move the “Stabilize” slider until you're happy.
Click Save & Publish.
Than download

If the original clip is really, really, badly shaking, you may not be able to correct it.

As far as the transition between the stabilized clip and the unstabilized clip, you may need to change the scale and position of the unstabilized clip to match the stabilized clip.

It is very difficult to fix shakiness after the fact. Most programs end up zooming into the footage to correct.
