One Small Step.....

Postby sidd finch » Sat Jul 20, 2019 8:15 am

On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong made history as the first man to walk on the moon, and uttered his famous words: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." See the moment as it was covered live by CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite.

Even though his first words have become immortalized, I still think dear Neil muffed the line.

One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind doesn't really make sense.

One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind does.

Neil himself said many times that it doesn’t make sense without the “a” in there. He admitted that he may have muffed the line in the heat of the moment, but that’s what he intended to say.

even the muff sounded pretty cool. I was watching 8 days to the moon and when the coverage broke for a commercial the moon landing coverage was "brought to you by Kelloggs... :hyst:

Just finished watching Apollo 11 on CNN. Best coverage I’ve ever seen of the mission. Awesome footage of the takeoff and time on the moon. Just a great piece of work.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got a hankering for some Space Food Sticks and a big glass of Tang.

I did for a moment, but it quickly passed.

I never cared for Tang. To me, it had a slightly off taste that wasn't pleasant. I know many people like it. Apparently, they can't taste what I'm tasting. I don't like the bitter taste of cilantro either.

Yes, I do, actually. You may be right about me being a supertaster. I just finished reading several articles about that and I seem to fit. If I'm not, I'm certainly close.

I would guess that you also have the ability to discern all the different intricacies of wine too.

Maybe, but I generally avoid alcohol as I find the bitter astringent taste overwhelming.
