Photoshop CS5 on Windows 10?

Postby Jayell » Thu Feb 14, 2019 5:05 pm

I know it's not advised .. but does anyone know if Photoshop CS5 (and for that matter Dreamweaver MX 2004) will load and run WELL on Windows 10?

I have the Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan subscription and normally use the current version of Photoshop CC. However, I left some older versions installed for compatibility with some older plugins. I just now loaded Photoshop CS5 (Extended Edition) and tried out many of the essential functions and everything worked well on Windows 10. I don't use Dreamweaver and don't know how that would run.

Thanks Bob! I'm also using the CC Photography Plan currently .. but looks like I may also need Dreamweaver, so trying to determine if I'll be using them both enough to pay the additional cost.

Wow Jayell !! How are you doing? Great to see you posting again :TU:

It won't hurt to give it a try but that version of Dreamweaver is not up to speed on the HTML changes. It would probably still work but you will be fighting with some missing functionality I'm afraid. Still, it might be worth a try if you aren't doing anything too technical. Just remember that Flash is not being very well supported anymore so best to leave that alone. When that version of Dreamweaver came out Flash was used a lot and very popular.

I have yet to get by you when I've tried to sneak in the back door, Chuck.
Thanks for noticing. I miss hanging around here.
Appreciate the notes on Dreamweaver .. as I'm currently taking a LinkedIn tutorial on HTML. Sounds like I'll just have to join the 21st Century (gee my version is only 15 years old) and subscribe to all the latest programs.

Support for CS5 was discontinued and it does not have any support for HTML5.

Thanks Sidd. Guess that doesn't leave me many options.
Amazing how hard it is giving up the old prgrams I'm comfortable with.

If you learn the HTML code good enough you can use a tool like Notepad++ to edit and create HTML files. If I knew what you wanted to do I could probably be of more help :)

The slow death of Adobe Flash has been hastened — YouTube, which used the platform as the standard way to play its videos, has dumped Flash in favor of HTML5 for its default web player. The site will now use HTML5 video as standard in Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari

I don't plan on EVER getting THAT good at HTML.

I'm just taking over as webmaster of a new technology club in the retirement community I live in. You don't need Web design skills, but understanding the HTML allows me to understand what's going on under the hood where I can make minor tweaks. So am taking an online HTML class.

I downloaded Notepad ++ but couldn't figure out how to make it open/render in Firefox.
Being familiar with Dreamweaver (from years back) .. and actually having a Website I used to upload things to now and then, figured I was most comfortable there .. and can look at the HTML and the completed page as I go. I'm having so much fun I may get back into doing some of my own Web Design.

I've never used Flash .. and I don't completely understand the playing of video on a site, other than to say I was using two different JWPlayers to get both Internet Explorer and Apple devices to play my MP4 videos back several years ago. Are you saying the HTML 5 resolves that issue? Or am I mixing two different issues?
