Background Noise

Postby jacartisan » Mon Feb 04, 2019 4:45 pm

I just completed a video at a Veterans Art-show and had several testimonials from a number of Veteran Artists.
The problem I am having is the crowd noise... How can I separate the background noise from the video so I can hear the artist talk about their Art? The program I am using is Adobe Premiere Elements 14.
Thank you...

It's almost impossible to do that.

You can try to export the audio and put that file in the free application Audacity and try to use some of the filters.
Then you would save it and insert it back into your project.

I don't think you will have much luck, unfortunately.

Appreciate your help and will try your advice.
I used a shotgun mic to record the interview thinking it would be okay, it didn’t. I will use a lapel mic next time.

Yup, that's a tough one. I learned that lesson more than once unfortunately. In Audacity you can try the notch filter, the compressor, gate and limiter, also adjusting some specific equalizer frequencies might help some. Depends on how bad the background noise is and how much difference (loudness, frequency, etc.) there is between that and the person you were interviewing.
