Power Search for Premiere Pro

Postby sidd finch » Fri Nov 09, 2018 10:37 am

This looks pretty interesting. I did not know that the meta data had a transcript of the words used within the clip. This could be a pretty powerful tool for premiere.

There’s a new way to search video clips in Adobe Premiere Pro. PowerSearch is a metadata search tool that uses keywords to find specific clips.

Digital Anarchy last week released PowerSearch for Premiere Pro editors. The company says that the tool “intelligently searches metadata within video clips using keyword searches to find specific instances of spoken words or terms in video clips and sequences.” The tool is also included in Digital Anarchy’s Transcriptive Suite.

Premiere Pro CC doesn't natively provide words spoken in the metadata. Older version did have a builtin speech analysis tool that would do that, but it has been removed in current versions. Transcriptive dot com sells a plugin that will analyze the speech and add words to the metadata and Premiere Pro CC does accept transcripts from some services.

So does that mean that power Search is doing the speech to text conversion in the app?

Power Search is made by the same company that makes the speech to text plugin. It doesn't convert speech to text, it searches time coded text produced by the plugin, a separate transcoding service, or older versions of Premiere Pro that still include the speech analysis feature.
