Have you noticed at how nice electronics packing is these days? Ever since Apple started making their iPhone boxes feel like you were getting a piece of classy jewelry I have noticed how snappy packaging has become.

Case in point. I recently purchased a USB thumb drive that allows the user to copy files from their smartphone to the USB drive without having to use a computer. You can then plug the usb into a computer to transfer. Great gadget when using the phone to record video and needing to offload the video but not having a computer handy.

The USB drive was not too expensive but came in a padded jewel box. IMO way to fancy for what I was purchasing. Seems like way over kill to me.

It just goes to show you..... it's always something...

Apple certainly did raise the bar, when it comes to packaging.

Even the cheapest phone now comes in a very elaborate and stylish white box.

I bought an iMac last year and don't regret it.

I was going away for a week to do some sports videoing and then I was asked if I could editing as the week went along, so I agreed. I packed up the iMac in its box and set off. I had kept it just in case I had to return it for repair.

When I arrived more attention was given to the packaging than the iMac.

Yes, it is a big box and white but that it was so sensible for transportation was the main comment. Obviously many had seen an iMac but not many had seen the packaging and the design was praised.

Yes, Apple raised the bar with packaging and I will now keep the white box for future trips.

The fact that I used Prem Pro was of no interest, oh well. Strange.

Chuck... Non sequitur or.... a ref to Premiere software packaging featured a galloping horse, in a nod to Eadweard Muybridge's work, "Sallie Gardner at a Gallop".

Was referring to another Gilda Radner character, Emily Litella and her editorial on saving America's Natural Race Horses :)
