Video shot in portrait and landscape

Postby ssandheinrich » Sat May 19, 2018 6:22 am

I have video shot in both orientations and I don't want to loose quality or size by cropping. My version doesn't have the blurry side bars. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Copy the clip to a track below, enlarge to fill the entire screen and blur the entire clips slightly. that will give you basically the same effect they use on TV.
1. Thinkpad W530 Laptop, Core i7-3820QM Processor 8M Cache 3.70 GHz, 16 GB DDR3, NVIDIA Quadro K1000M 2GB Memory.

2. Cybertron PC - Liquid Cooled AMD FX6300, 6 cores, 3.50ghz - 32GB DDR3 - MSI GeForce GTX 960 Gaming 4G, 4GB Video Ram, 1024 Cuda Cores.

For what it's worth, I find the blurry "fill" video to be distracting and undesirable. I'd rather have a plain black background where vertical video is shown.

Here's the solution I proposed for Premiere Elements. Shouldn't be hard to adapt it to Vegas or Movie Studio.
HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro

Personally I like the second copy on the first track out of focus like that. In addition, I also make the blurred out video semi translucent so that the video is also much darker. Blurred and darker for me is easier on the eyes.
