How can I "Ken Burns" in PrePro CS6?

Postby Paz_Pazzaz » Sun Sep 10, 2017 5:52 pm

I'm shooting and editing in 4k and want to publish at 1080p. How can I "zoom in" on some areas, say to pan from left to right within the scene, and also "zoom in" to show more detail on a small area, in effect cropping, while keeping the correct proportions?

thanks,

Paz

Use a 1080 sequence and keyframe the position and scale.

Like Peru says you will need to import your 4k video clips into a 1080p work flow so that you can pan and zoom. If you use a 4k workflow there is no room to pan and zoom.

If all you source clips are 4k I might suggest that you use a 2.7k workflow and then import the 4k clips into the 2.7k workflow. There is still room to pan and zoom.

Thanks, guys.... ummmmm...... so reducing the number of pixels from 4k to 1080 in sequence will give 4k resolution in cropped areas??? :ha:

OK, I'll try it.

(after all the trouble I went to to figure out how to create a custom sequence setting for 4k!)

Paz you create a 1080p (or as I suggested a 2.7k) work flow. Then import your 4k footage into the 1080p workflow. If premiere asks you to resize the 4k footage say no. When you look at the 4k footage in the 1080p workflow the video will look like it is zoomed in..... You are now free to pan and zoom in the 4k video.
