Marketing Videos That I Made

Postby Dave McElderry » Tue May 30, 2017 11:24 am

Regulars here know that I don't claim to be anything but a hobbyist/enthusiast, but recently I created a couple of marketing videos for a partnership that I thought I'd share. These were purposely kept low-key at their request, nothing fancy here. They decided on about 3 minutes running time, afraid that any longer would be pushing the attention span of today's casual website visitor, and I agree. Thanks to Ron from Muvipix for use of his music!

Erin and Mike are partners in a consulting company that "educates individuals and organizations about the power of choice in personal and professional development." They wrote a novel together called "No Little Choices" which is available on Amazon. Sequels are in the works. If you'd like to learn more about their presentations, visit their website.

I love how you put this together Dave, very well done. Like the text, the music, the heart beat, the changes and transitions, really like both pieces a lot. Great work :TU:

Thanks for the kind words guys. Chuck, there's a great backstory that Erin tells of her search for her birthmom, and some really "oh wow" connections that she discovered when things came together. The novel is based on true happenings, but then takes creative license for an interesting story. It's not the first time that the theme of no little choices has been used, by any means, but Erin and Mike put it in great context.

Dave I really enjoyed them nice work. The text graphics was perfect for the video. The second video I kept wondering... Hey DAVE stop the teaser...what happened. My only suggestion (and it is a minor point) I would have liked to see a bit bigger video box. I was interested in what both speakers were saying. Also the audio was really really good. Clear and very audible.

Well done. Thank you for posting. Now if only we could purchase Steve's pizza online. It would be fun to eat pizza and watch your videos... lol

Thanks so much! In the original edit that I submitted, Erin thought I was giving away too much. I told her that I thought that "although we surely don’t want to give away everything we do need to give away something, in order to show that there’s some substance." But she had reservations about what I had included. In her presentation she also teases about certain things, with the point being that she wants people to buy the book to find out "the rest of the story." So I edited out about 15 seconds worth and she approved of that version. In the end, it's about what she wanted and I'm fine with that. The customer is always right.

Thanks for the observation regarding the size of the video box. I was trying to get away from just the predictable full screen video, and I needed to have room for readable quotes, or in Erin's case some of the accompanying graphics. Since there wasn't anything going on in the video except someone standing there talking I felt that it wasn't terribly important to have a large video box. But your point is well taken.

The audio was a RODELink Filmmaker Kit digital wireless system. I've used it in several of these applications and I'm very pleased with the results. For Mike's presentation I was probably about 70 feet away and the venue was a high school with lots of other wireless in the environment. You notice that Mike was using a wireless mic for the PA too. Different frequency, of course, but I never had a bit of interference or dropout.

Well done. Thank you for posting. Now if only we could purchase Steve's pizza online. It would be fun to eat pizza and watch your videos... lol

As good as that pizza looked I think that's a great idea. Drone delivery! Yummmm.... :TU:

Dave, is the woman's name in the video really Erin Hardesty??

Erin Hardesty is a fictional character, main protagonist and sole survivor from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Interesting..... :)

Dave, impressive, polished videos! I think the text animation added interest without taking away from the videos. The 2nd video heart beat with the text changing from white to purple was genius! Great job all in all. :TU: :TU:
