blazing fast internet

sraeli chipmaker Sckipio announced a new G.Fast solution that can deliver both upload and download speeds 750 megabits per second. That's 50 times faster than the broadband that you probably have coming into your home right now.
But soon even that will seem slow. The next generation of chips that could come within another year will provide double that speed for both upload and download, Sckipio said. That's 1.5 gigabits per second -- faster than anything Google Fiber offers today.
Though demonstrations of G.Fast have previously shown the technology to be capable of 750 megabit download speeds, upload speeds were significantly slower than that.

I've gotten to the point in my life where I've stopped celebrating how fast things are getting and I've started fearing it.

Good one Steve! You can count me as another. Too much to do, too little time left.

Anyway, it has taken 20 years for slow DSL (1.2mb) to reach us here in Oregon. So how many more years till we get the speeds mentioned in the post above? I suspect not in my remaining years here on earth.

Doesn't seem so very long ago that we all heard this:-

dial-up-modem-01.mp3

Here in the outskirts of Palermo I get about 9Mbits. In the UK house we get 17Mbits.

Wow Chuck, that is amazing! How much does that cost each month? If Time Warner Cable offered that in my area they would probably charge a gazillion dollars/month for it. I wish we could get some broadband competition in my area!

I have Time Warner Cable. Base speed in my area is 50 Mbps and can go up to 300 Mbps. 100 Mbps and up include free WiFi. Charter just bought Time Warner Cable. The Time Warner brand will be killed off and the combined offerings will be marketed under the "Spectrum" brand name. 100 Mbps is currently $45/month while 300 Mbps is $65.

Good prices Bob, I would pay $65 per month to double my speed !!

Currently I pay $90/month for my service. I am happy though, it is never down and works very well with all our devices and my router. We have 2 smart TVs, 4 cell phones, 3 laptops and 3 desktops all connected and often many of them on the internet at the same time.
