WMV?

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 12.

WMV?

Postby don731 » Sat Jul 12, 2014 5:06 pm

Hi,
Using PE12 on a Mac. I want my final movie to be in wmv file format. What is the best way to do this? Convert after publishing it as a QT or AVCHD file?
I don't see the Windows options in Publish and Share as described in Steve's book on pages 252-254.

Thanks!

Don

It's true that the Mac version of Premiere Elements doesn't include the options to output as a WMV or an AVI. So I guess about the only option is to output as an MOV or MP4 and then use a third-party program to convert it to a WMV.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any Mac-based freeware for outputting WMVs.

Is a WMV really necessary for your output? MP4s have kind of become the new de facto standard for web-based delivery, making WMVs pretty much obsolete. Is it possible to use an MP4 rather than a WMV for your specific situation?

Thanks Steve!

Yes, my end requirement is a wmv file. I will be using this file with a windows program called Light-o-Rama (runs in Windows only), and while it will accept several video file types, the wmv gives the best output. I'll look around for a conversion app.

And, naturally, if you can't find one, you can always Dropbox the MP4 to me and I'll be glad to convert it to a WMV for you.
