Best tools to correct orange colour tinting - tungsten light

Postby robbie410 » Thu Jan 23, 2014 12:54 pm

Well many many months since I last used site. Glad to see all is still busy. Just getting into editing after some time. I am now embarking on converting old Video8 tapes into Imac, using Digitiser. A few of the tapes have footage taken inside banquet suite, which I think had tungsten lighting resulting in orange tint on much of the video. Any suggestions which correction tools would be best to used to try and correct some of this footage?

Version 12 has some nice tools under its Adjustments.

Try using adjustments for Temperature and, if that doesnt' work, try Tint.

Thank you, have just installed PE12. Whilst writing, rather an unfair question, is there a lot of difference in The Muvipix.com Guide to Photoshop 11; PE11?? Sorry about that

There are some new features in version 12, as I show you in the articles you can see if you click the Details links on the left side of this page.

But overall they two versions function almost identically, and the guide for version 11 should be pretty much completely applicable to all but a few new features.

Hello again, just going back to redo previous projects. The project with orange effect was improved before by using Tint. However having now captured wit Canopus 55 onto the Timeline direct I cannot make any changes to Tint using Adjust button. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong or whether because of a different capture it is not possible anymore?

The Canopus should capture your videos as DV-AVIs (or DV-MOVs on a Mac), which are an ideal format for editing in Premiere Elements. I can't imagine why you'd have problems. You do have the clip selected on your timeline and the CTI playhead positioned over the clip when you're making your adjustments, right?

If not, please go to Edit/Project Settings and ensure that your project has set up properly as 720x576 25 fps video (PAL).

Ooh, I might not have had the CTI on the clip to be improved, sorry. Will try again.
For information I may not try to eliminate the orange tint, as before, because the capture quality is in itself now so much better.
I will not day thank you yet again but you run a premium web site with you all having so much patience and time to assist and help everyone whatever their knowledge levels.
