A place to introduce and tell a little about yourself.

Hello...I subscribed today, so I figured I should introduce myself. I was a producer/director for television back in the dark ages, circa 1980. I worked on news shows, sporting events, and the then new magazine show PM Magazine at a CBS affiliate in central Illinois. I then moved to Hollywood, and worked for the company that made black and white movies into color (Ted Turner was our biggest client.) I got out of the game for many years, and am just starting to get back into it as a hobbyist. I have APE 4. I had 3, but it quit working and the folks at tech support couldn't help get it going again, so I got 4. So, I am trying to apply all the editing and knowledge I had back then in the analog days to this new digital stuff. I am a musician, and I want to do more with videos with my music. I've been lurking here for a while, but I decided it was time to join the fun. Thanks for all your help and wisdom. SaxMarc http://www.sweetthunderjazztet.com

Welcome, Marc!
Sounds like we were in Hollywood about the same time. (I was there from mid-80's until about mid-90s.) I'm sure we could share a lot of stories about watching the old MGM studio lot change hands half a dozen times in as many years. (In fact, I think Turner owned it for a while.)
Glad to have you in the community!

Steve: It sounds like you were there right as I got out of the business-I stayed in LA until 92, but got out of the business in '87 or so. Color Systems Technology was the company I worked for....Our offices were on Hollywood Blvd., then we moved to Marina del Rey. I believe Turner did own that studio for awhile. He and I fought about the amount of color in Miracle on 34th Street-he wanted more, I told him I thought it was enough. Guess what? He won. It was a very short discussion, too! Thanks for the warm welcome here.

Man, talk about a classic 80s/Ted Turner argument!
