How does really know if Pre Ele 10 is running in 32 or 64 bit within Windows and the software itself. I've not seen anything to denote that. Anyone help?
Thanks Walt

Re: Use of 32 or 64 bitAre you running the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of Windows 7, Walt?
You won't be able to install the 64-bit version of the software on the 32-bit operating system. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Use of 32 or 64 bitI am using a 64 bit version of Windows, but really cannot tell if PRe Ele 10 knows it should it should be running under it, or is it just assumed to be?
I hate to sound dumb, but I don't comprehend how the user would know that Ver 10 would run under it. Is there something in Pre Ele to "turn on"within the software? Thanks Steve Walt
Re: Use of 32 or 64 bitDid you install the boxed software or did you download it? If using the boxed software, there are a number of DVDs, the one labeled disk 1 contains the Windows 32-bit version and the one labled disk 2 contains the Windows 64-bit version. To install the 64-bit version you need to install from disk 2.
I don't have PrEl 10 installed so I can't check it myself, but I believe the screen that appears when you launch PrEl (the same one that shows if you select Help>About) will include a "x64" near to the version number if you are running the 64-bit version. The 32-bit version will not show this. If you are still not sure, check where the program was installed on your system drive. 64-bit programs are installed in the "Program Files" directory. If you installed the 64-bit version, it will probably be located at "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0". On the other hand, 32-bit programs are installed in the "Program Files (x86)" directory. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0". If you have both installed, start from the program in the "Program Files" directory to run in 64-bit.
Re: Use of 32 or 64 bitAlso, the 64-bit version will only work on Windows 7. You can't install the 64-bit version on XP or Vista.
So, if you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 7, the easiest way to see if you've installed the 64-bit version of the software is to go to your Program Files directory on your Computer drive and see if the program was installed in the Program Files or the Program Files (x86) directory. (64-bit programs are, I believe, installed in the regular Program Files directory in Windows 7 64-bit.) HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Use of 32 or 64 bitThat was it and I thank you all for responding. It did not seem obvious at the time.
