Project Preset for 640x480 30fps?

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 10.

Project Preset for 640x480 30fps?

Postby anotherprimate » Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:28 pm

Rookie here: New to Premiere Elements 10, and unsure which Preset to use for videos from my Canon A3100 IS digital camera.
My camera specs - 640x480 30fps.

I see under DSLR Presets on pg 26:
~ DSLR 640x480p 60 (59.95 progressive fps)
~ DSLR 1080p30 for 1920x1080
Neither fits my situation, but which is the better match?

When I save the files to my PC (which is what I used to do before buying this book), it saves as AVI (not sure that helps this question, as I really don't know what the heck I'm talking about.)

Thanks,
Sue

Hi Sue, Welcome to Muvipix :meet:

One nice thing about Premiere Elements 10 is that it will tell you if you've picked the wrong preset and ask if it can change it for you.
I would select the DV / Standard to start with and then see what Premiere Elements says when you add a clip to the timeline.
It is possible that the AVI is actually a motion jpeg and then you may need some other help but starting with DV Standard should be good.
Let us know what happens :)

Found this
As well as still images, the A3100 can capture video clips at VGA (640 x 480) resolution or below in Motion JPEG AVI format.

So it is Motion JPEG, may or may not be a problem, just use the DV Standard preset and see what happens.
