Need help choosing a project setting

Specific to Premiere Elements Version 10.

Thanks for the Easy Reader version, Chuck. ;)

Yes, that's a whole other beast then, Dave. The file is clearly working in Premiere Elements. The most likely issue is the video card or its driver. But I'd love to have a clip from that cam to test myself.

I know how it is when we get older Steve, if it isn't memory issues it's sight problems ...

I agree, it would be nice to have a clip to test.

I get a "forbidden file extension" error when I try to upload the MTS file. Obviously it's got to be the original unprocessed file straight from the camera or the test will be invalid.

Are you uploading to the gallery or in this post Dave?
Ron can fix it either way :)

To the Gallery, as Steve requested. But I'll do whatever you'd prefer.

Thanks, Dave! Now we can experiment with it and see if we can replicate your results.

In order for us to do that, let's make sure we're doing exactly the same thing in exactly the same environment.

1) Windows 7 64-bit, version 10, a project set up for Full AVCHD 5.1 audio. (You MUST select 5.1 audio for this clip!)
2) Plays fine in the Monitor panel -- but shows black at full screen.

BTW, what button are you toggling to play the video at full screen? I can't find the option anywhere in version 10.

Also, if you right-click on the Monitor panel and select Playback Settings, which settings are displayed?

I have imported the video into a DSLR 1080p 30 project. After import and dragging the clip to the timeline Premiere Elements says that it is the wrong project setting and asks to switch to another and I said OK. Switched the project to
AVCHD Full HD 1080i 30

Clip does not need rendering and plays fine in the monitor and Full Screen.
This is on my Lenovo Laptop. Playback Quality is set to "Highest".
Excellent quality and I love your puppy :)

I also get excellent results in a project set up for Full AVCHD 5.1 audio.

So please tell us how you're playing Full Screen, Dave, so we can test that also.

Correct on all of the above information. I might add that when I'm in full screen mode I hear the audio, but there's no video. I might also add that once I've tried to play in full screen mode then the video won't work in the monitor panel. I hear the audio, and the CTI moves, but the video frame doesn't change in the monitor panel.

Here's the full screen button - upper right corner:

Playback settings:

I've tried every combination of these settings that I can think of with no difference in the results.

I'm back. Well, it works on the laptop. However, the laptop screen isn't full HD (only 720 ) so that may make a difference. It's starting to sound like video card, huh guys?

It does seem like a video card driver issue.

But I'll try to the Full Screen thing when I get home to see if I get the same results.
