Hey, what can I say? I'm just lucky, I guess. If you notice on that clip I uploaded, there's a weird frame at the beginning and end that wasn't there yesterday. I don't think I dumped anything, but I was mucking about. It seems to be a placeholder, the sort of "welcome" image one gets when opening Premiere Elements 10. I was mucking around with it to make the video for you and may have done some stupid thing.
I just went back to iMovie to finished my new project. It doesn't do all Premiere does, but at least it's trouble-free. I'll try those suggestions to get rid of that problem and let you know if I can extricate it.
