PRE on two computers

Postby mfl1 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 9:16 pm

I work in PRE10 on a desktop and a laptop. I copied the media files from the desktop to the laptop, using the same path. However, when I copy the .prel file from the desktop to the laptop, the program doesn't locate the media files referenced in the .prel file. I can do it manually, but it takes a while. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marvin

Yes. Next time don't just copy the files over. Use the Project Archiver (under the File menu).

The Project Archiver saves the project and media files to a new location AND saves the links between them.

Meantime, you can manually relink the media files to your current project by following the prompts when you first open the project. It's not as elaborate a project as it sounds. When Premiere Elements "sees" the other files that it needs to re-link to in a folder you're re-linking to, it will automatically connect to them.
