NewBlueFX now ready for Avid Studio 1.0

Lots of discussion brewing on this awesome consumer video editing software. Would love to hear from experienced users.

NewBlueFX now ready for Avid Studio 1.0

Postby RJ Johnston » Tue Apr 05, 2011 11:31 pm

I received an email from NewBlue that their effects, except the stabilizer, are ready for Avid Studio 1.0.

I received that email too today. I hahe only the free cartooner from NewBlue, besides the FX that came with Premiere or MEP.

Robert, I was wondering if you could shed some light on the statement here (toward bottom of page) where it says something about enhanced plug-ins included with Avid Studio. Are they really any different from the Pinnacle Studioâ„¢ HD Ultimate Collection plug-ins?

I might have to install the Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate Collection again to see if there are any significant changes.

Robert, that's OK. Don't worry about it. I was under the impression, that you have it still installed. Someone asked that question on the Avid forum, but nobody commented.

At first I thought, why would you upgrade to Avid Studio, when all the plug-ins were already included in Studio Ultimate. But now of course, I know there are other reasons to upgrade. :-D I was just curious if there are differences between the plug-ins for each version.

I had to install Pinnacle Studio 14 just so I could install the Mercalli plug-ins so I could copy them over to Avid Studio.

It's kind of hard to tell what the differences are in the Red Giant plug-ins. I can't have both Avid Studio and Pinnacle Studio open at the same time. But Roto Toonit looks the same.

Thanks Robert! So nothing obviously different. Since it says "enhanced",could it be that the effects are more customizable?

Shine as extra controls in Avid Studio. There are additional things you can do with Shimmer (Detail, Phase) and Colorize (Base On [lightness, luminance, alpha, alpha edges], Color), and there's a Threshold setting in the first "Controls" and a Source Opacity setting in the last "Controls."

So it seems there are more options available and they were not lying. Good to know, thanks again for investigating, Robert.
Only 2 days left on my trial :(

Did you get the free extra Adorage plugins when you registered??? Not that you can use them in the trial version.

My trial version runs out in a couple of days. I like the editor... it is very similar to Premiere Elements in some ways, in particular the timeline layout and operation. I had no crashes during use, the only issue I had was when rendering out a HD WMV file when it said I was running low on memory and needed to shut down the program, I left it and it finished without issue.

I dont think I will buy it. It doesn't offer me anything that I can not achieve with my other editors. I have decided to put the money ($225 here in the UK) towards a new computer.

$225!!!!!!
I might spend that much, depending on which month it is.

I really like the workflow.

Yes, not cheap, particuarly as I dont own a Pinnacle product to upgrade from... well I do own a Pinnacle product, version 8 if I recall, but I cant upgrade from that. That is why I think the money will be better spent by putting it towards an eventual new computer.
