How to Divide 16:9 frame into Four Parts?

Postby jonnyD » Wed May 06, 2015 1:54 pm

I'm doing a mashup slideshow of a bunch of photos. I want the screen divided like the attached image: 3 separate images on top of equal size (which equal the top half of the frame) and the 4th piece the entire bottom half.
I know I'll need the Track Motion tool to re-position everything, but what's the best way to do it?

Ciao JonnyD,

you have to create four tracks to import the photos depending on the frame (1, 2, 3, 4) you want them to appear in.

Then, for each track, click the "motion-track" button:

In the new window you can then adjust the size, the proportions and the center point of the video area.
They will, of course, overlap, you'll have to make them match perfectly, manual mode is the best for me but the parameters as in

Image

can help.

I hope this video can help too, especially from 2:09 :

You could make a grid in photoshop to help with alignment. Place the grid on the top track and delete later. Or keep say a black grid to define the different videos.

I have tried to explain the procedure thanks to the help of a graphic friend:

Sorry, I don't know what version is, I'll let you know in next days.

I ended up using momoffduty's suggestion with the grid and hand-aligning the four different parts. It worked well enough for what I wanted.

I took a look at Francesco's solution. It definitely gives me a way to think about it when I need to do it again. Grazie.
