Movie Studio 13 - Indoor/Outdoor Lighting Fixes

Postby pvwojciak » Sat Jun 07, 2014 7:49 am

Hey all,

I'm editing a wedding recently shot - the venue had a very nice room with several large windows. Unfortunately, lighting was still an issue, casting some shadows on the couples' faces. I used "color curves" to remove some of the shadow from the faces, which was good - however, with this, the scene through the windows become VERY bright, distractingly bright.

Any tips on how to tone that down without shadowing the faces? I'm including the before and after pics - not sure anything can be done, but worth asking, right?

Thanks!!
Paul

Hi, Paul. Welcome to Muvipix!

Have you tried the Shadow/Highlight effect (in the Advanced Adjustments category of Video Effects)? It's specifically designed for situations just like this!

Oops! Sorry, vk. Wrong program.

In Vegas or Movie Studio, Curves would be a good place to start.

If that doesnt' work, try adjusting the Gain and Gamma in the Secondary Color Corrector.

I think the second pic looks pretty doggone good myself. Looks like a lot of work on the right and left, but I don't think you want to touch the middle left.
