Playing MPG file-No sound

Postby mikesteve » Thu Oct 17, 2013 5:35 pm

I rendered a movie in svms 12 platinum by clicking make movie and send to DVDA 5. The movie renders fine and I then click send to DVDA. I make my menus and burn the disk. Everything works fine. My question is, when I go back try to play the mpg file that was rendered in Vegas the file plays but there is no sound. What is causing this?

I tried VLC player and windows media player. There are 4 files in the folder: family1.mpg, family1.mpg.sfl,family1.ac3,family1ac3.sfl. My quick time version is up to date. Here is the info from mediainfo:

Which Render As template did you use to output your file? Or did you use the Make Movie shortcut?

Many templates render your movie as separate audio and video streams.

Your video is the .mpg file. And, if the program also output an .ac3 file, then the mpeg is a video only stream and the audio is the separate audio for that file. (Don't worry about the other files. They're not media files.)

When you add your MPEG to your DVD Architect project, the program usually locates and adds the audio file automatically. Have a look on the movie's timeline in DVD Architect. If for some reason the audio file isn't on the timeline below the video, you can add it manually just by dragging it from the Explorer.

I used the make movie shortcut. I noticed the audio never appears in DVDA when using the movie shortcut, but always plays fine when previewed in DVDA and when burned to disk. I was just trying to figure out why the movie will not play with audio after the disk is burned and the file is saved in the Sony folder. I navigate to app data/local/sony/mstudio/12/file name. I open the mpg and the video plays but no audio. The audio file is in the folder.

Yep. It's as I said: the Make Movie shortcut outputs a separate audio and video stream, which unite in DVD Architect. This allows Movie Studio to output your audio as a high-quality Sony W64 file.

But, if you try to play the files, the video includes no audio and the audio file includes no video.

The audio appears on the Timeline in DVDA if you double-click your media in the Project Overview window.
