John, I've been known to be El Cheapo. Do you have a recommendation as to which card would be better for me? I have a tendency to go for the $9.00. And we all know that sometimes you get what you pay for.

I'm off work Tues and Wed; will check to make sure I have a slot vacancy, and I'm pretty sure I do. I'll be ordering then. Then I'll have to figure out what wire will need to connect to the firewire and my Panasonic. The camera output is a 3 ring 1/8" pin plug, so I'll have to scout for that combo. Appreciate the input.

You need a 6 to 4-pin IEEE (iLink) cable like this one, which I have:

Hi Buddy. Nothing wrong with being "El Cheapo". We all need to look after our hard earned cash. :-D

No recommendation. But if you do buy from Amazon, or some other company with a good returns policy, then you can't really go wrong if you feel that you have made the wrong choice.

Good info John, placed my order today. Thanks everyone for the input. It has been enlightening. At first I thought I only had the 1/8" plug for an outlet, then I discovered the other on the opposite end of the camera. So, I should be good to go.

A little belated, but I appreciate the input here..gave me new life. I now have a Firewire connection, and it works beautifully with "Capture" in HD 10. :)
