split clips as they are captured

Postby Doc K » Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:32 am

When you capture video from a miniDV camcorder, "the captured video will automatically be broken into segments based on your recorded video's timecode."

My question is, is this splitting possible with big huge 13gb avi files on my hard drive, that had been captured previously?

I realize that I could re-capture the tapes that these avi's came from to achieve this result, but it would be a convenient time-saver to be able to split the avi files into segments just like the Vegas capture method.

Vegas can not automatically split your video after it's captured, Doc.

However, check out a program on the internet called Scenalyzer, which I believe might do this.

I'd like to mention this little gem for splitting files, HandySaw. It can work as a standalone app, or if you have Vegas Pro, it will be available within Vegas as a plug-in (or extension?).
