Remake DVD without *.dar

Postby curt y » Thu Apr 21, 2011 5:38 pm

Thought I was finished with the DVD master and now they want an additional clip added.

I had done some file clean up and do not see any *dar file that the program wants. I do have the Audio_TS and the Video_TS files. But DVD Architect says not right kind of file.

Is there anyway to get all the menus and stuff back from these files?

Thanks

Unfortunately, not in its editable project format. Not without that .dar.

Sorry.

Do you have an old backup somewhere?
Maybe on an external backup drive, a cd, dvd, or flash drive, or in the recycle bin of your backup drive?

AS5 saves the .dar files on the C drive by default: Check My Documents>DVD Architect Studio 5 Projects for the file.

Personally, I save the files to the same external HDD as the "Prepared" files--the result is that each and every time I back one external HDD up to another, I have also a backup of the .dar file.

Thank you all for your comments. Since I had not used the HD since deleting files and emptying the recycle bin, I used a recovery program.

Searched for DAR files and found the one I needed. Loaded in up in the program, and wola, it worked.

So will save this by clicking on Prepare Disk and saving file. THis will do it right?

On a side note, I keep all files for a project for 3 - 6 months. Put them on an external drive if I need to make room but I always keep them just in case. I have had more than one project rise from the ashes even months later, but when the call comes in the files and project are still there and ready to be resurrected. Just last month I deleted project files from last August and September.
